Eleni Koumpaki is a Biotechnologist with an MSc in Environmental Biology from the University of Crete and a Research Technician at the Ecology and Ecosystem Management Laboratory of the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture (IMBBC) at the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR). Her research focuses on marine biodiversity and conservation, with particular interest in coastal ecosystems, their ecological processes, and the factors influencing biodiversity patterns.
She is involved in projects related to ecosystem monitoring and management, combining taxonomy, fieldwork, and ecological assessments. Her work also includes ocean literacy initiatives and stakeholder engagement, supporting science-based approaches to the sustainable use and protection of marine resources.
