Thekla Anastasiou is a Biologist with an MSc in Environmental Biology and Management of Terrestrial and Marine Biological Resources, employed as lab technician at IMBBC-HCMR since 2018. Her research interests include marine pollution and biomonitoring, chemical analysis of biomolecules and organic pollutants, marine products and marine biodiversity. She has participated in various research activities ranging from tetrodotoxin (TTX) and hormone analysis in fish serum and tissues using liquid chromatography-coupled with double mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), to extraction of total genetic material and analysis of the 16S rRNA gene for the identification of microbial communities. She is currently involved in SPINAQUA project, where she supports the implementation of the research activities regarding the bioremediation capacity and bioproduction potential of sponges.
