These will contribute to "the development and improvement of aquaculture practices for the support and sustainable use of biodiversity and a wide range of ecosystem services". The breeding programmes will respect high animal welfare standards and requirements and will aim to improve species resilience, disease resistance and feed efficiency, meeting nutritional needs, using as much as possible alternative feed raw materials to increase the sustainability of production.
