Stelios Darivianakis is working as a scientific research technician at the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture (IMBBC) in the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR). He assumed his duties in June 1997.
He has a long-time experience in molecular biology techniques and protocols commonly used in population genetic studies and selective breeding programs, moreover Stelios has experience in sampling of seawater and sediment for ecological studies from fish farms and field work for the needs of research programs
Building on his electronic engineering background he is also constructing, maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, titrators, pipetting machines and pH meters ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked.
He is also involved in the ordering of lab equipment and consumables to ensure continuous operations, and following up with suppliers and procurement where needed.
Stelios Darivianakis holds a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece.
