fish reproduction, aquaculture, gamete quality, fish physiology - endocrinology

After completing my postgraduate studies at the MSc level (2006), I have worked in both the private and public sector, in the fields of: a) fish reproduction and physiology, b) selective breeding, c) assisted reproduction to alleviate reproductive dysfunctions, d) gamete quality through automated analyses. More recently, parentage analysis and reproductive behavior has been added to my research interests. In addition to my involvement with the main species of Mediterranean fish farming, such as gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) and European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax), I have also dealt with new/emerging species for aquaculture production, such as the greater amberjack (Seriola dumerili), meagre (Argyrosomus regius) and wreckfish (Polyprion americanus). I have gained valuable experience with my involvement in major research projects either European (DIVERSIFY, NewTechAqua, BestBrood, etc) or national funded (MAGIATIKO, MOUNT, etc), or when providing consulting services to companies in the aquaculture industry.
