My research focuses on the structure and composition of microbial communities in the marine environment with an emphasis on microbial plankton eukaryotes. I am particularly interested in the ecology of microorganisms in their natural environment. I have gained experience in different techniques such as DNA metabarcoding, metagenomics, next-generation sequencing, flow cytometry and the use of statistics in ecology. In addition, I work with genomic observatories and particularly on the EMBRC-established long term biodiversity observatory EMO BON (European Marine Omics Biodiversity Observation Network).
