I am a Marine biologist - Molecular biologist. I got my Ph.D. in biology (1999) from the University of Bergen, Norway. In 2001 I came to IMBBC with an individual Marie Curie Post-doc Fellowship. Since then I have participated as project member in a number of international and national research programs. Since 2014 I have been managing the IMBBC Next Generation Sequencing facilities (Illumina MiSeq and Oxford Nanopore MinION). My main expertise is in NGS and third-generation sequencing techniques, with broad experience in all steps from study design, library construction, sequencing, and data analysis. In the last years I have mainly worked on microbiome sequencing from environmental samples (e.g. water, soil, sediments), and on whole genome sequencing from bacteria and eukaryotes using both Illumina and Nanopore sequencing technologies.
