Panayota (Yolanda) Koulouri

Dr Yolanda Koulouri is a marine biologist currently working as a Research Director at the Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology & Aquaculture (IMBBC) of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) in Crete. She has an adequate experience working on funded research projects concerning marine biodiversity, benthic ecology, coastal zone management, development of recreational diving parks by using artificial reefs and marine pollution monitoring. She is the author of about 80 publications in Scientific Journals, Books, special editions and more than 80 announcements in Scientific Conferences. She is a member of the European Marine Science Educators Association (EMSEA, member of the Legal Board since 2025). She is also a member (co-chair, 2021-2024) of the Expert Working Group on Ocean Literacy of the European Global Ocean Observing System (EuroGOOS) and representative for HCMR of EU4Ocean Coalition. She has been a member of the Scientific Council of IMBBC (2020-2024). She is CEO of the HCMR spin-off company of Artificial Reef Innovative Applications (since 2022). Lately, she has become the national representative for Ocean Literacy at IOC-UNESCO.
