• Fish nutrition and nutriomics
• Evaluation of fish feed ingredients and supplements
• Nutritional requirements
• Aquafeed formulation
My main research interests involve (a) the evaluation of the nutritional quality and effects of novel feed ingredients, supplements and bioactive compounds on growth performance, digestibility, quality and health of reared fish larvae, juveniles and adults, (b) the assessment of nutritional requirements and formulation of feeds of cultured fish and new candidate species, and (c) I have recently focused to investigation of the molecular and physiological mechanisms, which underlie, control and regulate fish appetite, growth, fat deposition and disease resistance using novel techniques from the field of proteomics and metabolomics. I am involved in various Scientific and Professional Committees and Working Groups. I have participated in several EU projects and coordinated several Greek national projects. I have installed in IMBBC an accredited laboratory by the Hellenic Laboratory Accreditation System according to the international standard ISO / IEC 17025: 2005, (ESYD -No. 1064) and have a close cooperation with the Greek and foreigner aquaculture industry for more than 20 years.
