My research focuses on Bioanalysis and Marine Biotechnology, aiming to develop innovative strategies for the sustainable valorization of marine biological resources, including biomass, metabolites, biomolecules and bioactive compounds. I am also interested in harnessing the potential of marine organisms for environmentally beneficial applications, particularly bioremediation and the biodegradation of organic pollutants. To achieve my objectives, I employ bioanalysis as my principal research tool, developing and applying advanced analytical methodologies for the detection, identification and accurate quantification of small molecules in marine organisms. I also develop analytical methods that enable the measurement of target biomolecules in a more efficient, robust and cost-effective manner. In parallel, I investigate metabolites and other small biomolecules that regulate the physiological state of marine organisms or provide valuable insights into species identity, biological activity, toxicity and responses to environmental stress. By integrating analytical chemistry with marine biology, my research aims to advance our understanding of marine organisms while promoting their sustainable exploitation for environmental and biotechnological applications.
