Sample collection with the reconstructed Research Vessel R/V PHILIA

The aim of the project is to investigate the marine area of the wastewater treatment plant of Heraklion city (Crete, Greece). Water and sediment samples are collected in order to measure and analyse abiotic (e.g. temperature, salinity, sediment grain analysis, nutrients, chlrorophyll a, phaeopigments, organic carbon, heavy metals, hydrocarbons) and biotic (e.g. macrobenthic faunal assemblages) parametres of the study area. The project is funded by the Municipal Enterprise for Water Supply and Sewerage of Heraklion.
